HEALTH GUIDELINES FOR RAMADHAAN

SOME HEALTH GUIDELINES FOR RAMADHAAN
This article provides useful advice on how to avoid some common problems encountered in Ramadhan. If followed, it would enable one to fast comfortably and enjoy fully the spiritual benefits of Ramadhan.
During the holy month of Ramadhan, our diet should not differ very much from our normal diet and should be as simple as possible. The diet should be such that we maintain our normal weight, neither losing nor gaining. However, if one is over-weight, Ramadhan is an ideal time to normalise one’s weight.
In view of the long hours of fasting, we should consume slow digesting foods including fibre containing-foods rather than fast-digesting foods. Slow digesting foods last up to 8 hours, while fast-digesting foods last for only 3 to 4 hours.
Slow-digesting foods are foods that contain grains and seeds like barley, wheat, oats, millet, semolina, beans, lentils, wholemeal flour, unpolished rice, etc. (called complex carbohydrates).
Fast-burning foods are foods that contain sugar, white flour, etc. (called refined carbohydrates).
Fibre-containing foods are bran-containing foods, whole wheat, grains and seeds, vegetables like green beans, peas, sem (papry), marrow, mealies, spinach, and other herbs like methie, the leaves of beetroot (iron-rich), fruit with skin, dried fruit especially dried apricots, figs and prunes, almonds, etc.
The foods eaten should be well-balanced, containing foods from each food group, i.e. fruits, vegetables, meat/chicken/fish, bread/cereals and dairy products. Fried foods are unhealthy and should be limited. They cause indigestion, heart-burn, and weight problems.
AVOID
Fried and fatty foods.
Foods containing too much sugar.

THE HEREAFTER BEAUTIFULLY EXPLAINED

Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem
INSPIRATIONAL | THE HEREAFTER BEAUTIFULLY EXPLAINED

In a mother's womb, were two babies, engaged in conversation.

The one asked the other: "Do you believe in life after delivery?"

The other replied: "Of course! There has to be something after delivery. It may be that we are here to prepare ourselves for what will follow later."

"Nonsense!" says the other. "There is no life after delivery! What would that life be?"

"Well, I can’t say exactly, but there will probably be more light there, than here. And we will probably walk with our legs, use our hands, eat with our mouths…."

The first baby says: "That is absurd! Walking is impossible. And eating with our mouths? How ridiculous you are! …The umbilical cord supplies nutrition. Life after delivery is to be excluded."

The other baby responded: "I think there is something beyond this world of the womb, and maybe it is different than what is here."

The first replies: "No one has ever come back from there! Delivery is the end of life, and in the after-delivery, there is nothing but darkness and anxiety and it takes us nowhere. Nowhere at all!"

"Well, whatever is to be, will be," says the other, "but certainly we will see our mother and she will take care of us."

"Mother???" …Do you believe in mother? Where is she now?"

The baby responds: "She is all around us. It is in her that we live. Without her, there would not be this world of ours."

"I don't see her, so it's only logical that she doesn't exist!"

To which the other replied, "Sometimes when you are silent, you can hear her, you can perceive her. I believe there is mother – loving and caring. And I believe there is a reality after delivery and we are here to prepare ourselves for that reality."

Inspirational Dua before Ramadaan

Inspirational Dua before Ramadaan

The month of Ramadaan is almost upon us. Preparation for the blessed month should commence in earnest for indeed every moment of Ramadaan is most valuable.

Ubaadah bin Saamit Radhiyallahu Anhu reports, Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam used to teach us this Dua at the approach of Ramadaan:

اَللَّهُمَّ سَلِّمْنِيْ لِرَمَضَانَ وَسَلِّمْ رَمَضَانَ لِيْ وَسَلِّمْهُ لِيْ مُتَقَبَّلَا

Allahumma Sallimnee Li Ramadaana Wa Sallim Ramadaana Lee Wa Sallimhu Lee Mutaqabbala (Kanz-ul-ummal)

“O Allah! Safeguard me for the Month of Ramadaan (by making me see the Month of Ramadaan fit and healthy), and safeguard the Month of Ramadaan for me (by making the conditions in it such that I can take maximum benefit from it) and accept it from me.”

JAMIATUL ULAMA KZN DAILY Q&A

Nasihah (Advice): Stand throughout the Blessed Month
There are two aspects that are Sunnah in Taraweeh during the month of Ramadaan. One is to complete the Holy Qur'an in Taraweeh and the other is to pray the full twenty Rakaats of Taraweeh throughout the month of Ramadaan.
By completing the Qur'an in Taraweeh within ten, fifteen or twenty nights, it does not mean that Taraweeh is over. It is still emphasized in the Shari'ah that a person fulfils the obligation of the full twenty Rakaats of Taraweeh to the last eve of Ramadaan.
Rasoolullah Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Sallam has mentioned in the Hadith:
من قام رمضان إيمانا واحتسابا غفر له ما تقدم من ذنبه
"Whoever stands up in Taraweeh for (the entire) Ramadaan with Imaan and in anticipation of reward, will have his previous sins forgiven." (Sahih al-Bukhari, #: 37, Narrated by Abu Hurayrah)
Let us not deprive ourselves of this highly rewarding gift of Taraweeh which Allah has bestowed upon this Ummah. May Allah inspire us and grant us the strength to make the most of every day and night of this Holy month, Ameen.

A Muslims Character

by Hazrat Maulana Yunus Patel Saheb (rahmatullah alayh)

As Muslims, our character, morals and etiquette should differentiate us from others. Non-Muslims are not so attentive to our beautiful Salaah, Tilawah, Zikr, and other Ibaadaat as they are to our character and dealingwinwors with others.
Wherever the Sahabah (RA) went, it was their character which attracted so many, which often became the focus of attention as well as admiration.
WhenRasulullah (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam)  invited the Quraysh to the worship of ONE Allah, he climbed Mount Safa and called out to his people, calling every family of the Quraysh. When they arrived, he asked them : ‘If I told you that horsemen were advancing to attack you from the valley on the other side of the hill, would you believe me ?’
Simultaneously and immediately, they all responded : ‘Yes, we have always found you honest.’

Chop that tree....

A person once got angry when he saw people worshipping a tree. He grabbed hold of an axe and intended to cut it down. On the way, he met Shaytaan. He told Shaytaan that he intended to cut the tree down. The Shaytaan told him to leave it and let the tree worshippers face the consequences. Due to this disagreement, the pair wrestled twice. Shaytaan being beaten each time.
As Shaytaan soon realized this person is strong in his belief, he began to change his approach by saying that if you leave this tree, you will find 4 dirhams under your pillow. The person hesitated for a while and thereafter agreed.
The person returned home and found 4 dirhams daily under his pillow every morning. Once, for two consecutive days, he never found the dirhams that were meant to be under his pillow. He proceeded again to the tree in a fit of anger. On the way, he met Shaytaan. Shaytaan asked, “Where are you going?” He replied, “To cut the tree down.”
Iblees (Shaytaan) then told him to return back as he was not going to allow him to proceed. Iblees said, “On the first occasion, you wanted to cut down the tree for Allah, I couldn't have stopped you but this time you are going due to the 4 dirhams i.e for yourself, I will stop you.”
The moral to this story is that the actions which are done for Allah are difficult for Shaytaan to obstruct. When actions are done for yourself i.e. worldly things, then Shaytaan can win easily.
The Prophet May Allah send peaceaand blessings upon him said:
'..Actions are according to intentions'
May Allah grant us the ability to maintain good intentions. Ameen.

Take Control
Tired of the kids installing dubious software or running applications you'd rather they left alone? AppLocker is a new Windows 7 feature that ensures users can only run the programs you specify. Don't worry, that's easier to set up than it sounds: you can create a rule to allow everything signed by a particular publisher, so choose Microsoft, say, and that one rule will let you run all signed Microsoft applications. Launch GPEDIT.MSC and go to Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Application Control Policies > AppLocker to get a feel for how this works.

The Status of Women

Nowadays, we have thousands of women across the world portraying themselves in different manners all in an attempt to establish feminine liberalism. Many of these females are under the mistaken impression that a woman’s worth can only be fully appreciated when she has the same rights, responsibilities and schedules as a men.
This idea has taken such deep root that there are even many of our Muslim mothers and sisters who are falling for it. Muslim women have developed the misconception that they are oppressed or have lesser worth than men, due to the fact that Islam has clearly differentiated between the roles of the two genders.
